So much buffoonery, so little time...Here are the "official" nominees for Brooklyn GOP Radio's "Buffoon of the Year" - some may seem familiar to you, some are new entrants. All are buffoons in their own special way.
Atlas Shrugs In Brooklyn - We don't know who "they" are, or even if "they" exist, but whoever "they" are, "they" think that criticism without action equals reform, and go about their "business"in a way that degrades and demeans the people who are actually working hard to improve the Brooklyn GOP. Those of us who live in the real world know their site to be complete buffoonery.
Janet Napolitano / TSA - Working for you 24/7/364... huh? A regular target of co-host Russell Gallo, Napolitano's buffoonery dangerously infringes upon the rights of Americans. "Don't TSA me, bro!"
Mike DiSanto - Has the dubious distinction of being a multiple-time "Buffoon of the Week" winner, he ran an epic failure of a campaign against State Senator Marty Golden that could be summed up in one catchphrase: when you think of economic stimulus, think of the florists! Nice tie, though.
Lucretia Regina-Potter - a multiple "Buffoon" nominee and winner of our dubious distinction who ultimately lost 2-to-1 in a 49th Assembly primary to breakout newcomer Peter Cipriano, Mrs. Regina-Potter was best remembered in the campaign for attacking Cipriano's friendship with a Muslim-American supporter... and little else.
Nancy Pelosi - the gift that keeps on giving to the GOP. The number-one reason for GOP fundraising, the bloodletting that was the 2010 Election for the Dems was largely a referendum of her lack of leadership - which she'll continue to wield as minority leader. keep up the good work, Nancy.
Janele Hyer-Spencer - The former Assemblywoman who was more phantom than legislator, the spoiled debutante got trounced by Assemblywoman-elect Nicole Malliotakis - and then pouted over the defeat for weeks after. We're still waiting for the concession speech!
President Barack Obama - Let us count the ways... driving the nation into debt, shoving unconstitutional health care reform down that nation's throat, suing states over protecting our nation from illegal immigrants while failing to secure our borders, giving up the podium and leaving the room to allow Bill Clinton to discuss policy, the list goes on and on. The office has taken a big hit in 2010.Honorable Mention: Jonathan J. Judge, Peter Abbate, Bill Colton, Former Congressman Michael McMahon.
There you have it! The polls are open until next Wednesday at 9:00 and the winner will be announced during the first Brooklyn GOP Radio broadcast of 2011!
Editor's Note: After many emails urging us to do so, we have revised our nominees for "Buffoon of the Year". While this didn't impact any of the tallies in the poll, it did mean revising the poll. We have the "lost" tabulations below:
Atlas Shrugs in Brooklyn - 4
Mike DiSanto - 1
Lucretia Regina-Potter - 2
Janele Hyer-Spencer - 5
President Barack Obama - 1
None of the Above - 1

You can also "write-in" your own buffoon here in the comments - we'll tabulate those votes along with the poll on the right! Happy voting!
What about Joseph Hayon?
Wow. They totally forgot about that dope.
Don't forget James McCall, there can't be any more of a buffoon who posts on some blog about his shortcomings.
Cry me a river for this buffoon.
Jonathan Judge is clearly the buffoon of the year. I think that people are voting for Atlas Shrugs in Brooklyn in higher numbers because they are sure he is the owner of that blog.
"What about Joseph Hayon?"
"Wow. They totally forgot about that dope."
Isn't that the dope that did better then everyone else with less party support?
I wonder who the real dopes are?
Oh you mean the same dope, who has never endorsed a single Republican, helped a single Republican candidate, and weaseled his way toward getting his name on the ballot for assembly, after his failed efforts at running for congress.
By the way he also voted for Arnaldo Ferraro for county chair, and has a new pal in Roy Antoun.
The rope a dope don't work anymore, Yoseph, sorry.
Is it Joseph, Yosef, or Yoseph?
Just asking....
Joseph Hayon collected ZERO signatures for his Assembly race.
Again, Joseph Hayon collected ZERO signatures for his assembly race.
He did not collect enough signatures to run for congress.
Again, Joseph Hayon did not collect enough signatures to run for congress.
Joseph Hayon did indeed vote for Arnaldo Ferraro for County Chair.
Joseph Hayon is uneducated as he is still enrolled in junior college.
Joseph Hayon does not pay taxes as he is unemployed.
Joseph Hayon is a sexist as he refuses to shake ANY and ALL women's hands no matter what their title or position is.
Joseph Hayon needs to go.
PS: Hey Joey, you should look up the difference between then and than you idiot.
Hey Craig, you need to wake up. We love you but this Hayon thing is killing us.
"Joseph Hayon is a sexist as he refuses to shake ANY and ALL women's hands no matter what their title or position is."
Are you for real?
no but your an antisemite. Jewish law forbids it and most male Jews in Borough Park and Flatbush wouldn't either.
look you dumb fools, the only way this party will ever succeed in Brooklyn is by getting the Jewish vote if you don't realize that you have a lot in common with Nancy Pelosi.
First Jews are the most Conservative.
the first number is Obama's % the second is Mccain
Bay Ridge/Fort Hamilton 59%-40%
Dyker Heights 49%-52%
Borough Park 18%-82%
Flatbush 31%-69%
Second (though you Antisemites probably don't want to here this) Their growing while all other whites are moving away.
Who cares? The Jewish-AMERICAN vote is welcome in the Republican Party. Sexists are not.
If you want to act like the Taliban then become a Democrat.
If your religious views outweigh your American views then it doesn't matter what percentage votes Republican.
Confused Republican is right. As a conservative woman in Brooklyn I feel that someone like Joseph Hayon and his sexist traditions can not possibly represent me in public office. Thank God I don't live in his district.
OK, let's nip this in the bud right now.
Let's stay on topic - look at all the nominated Buffoons! Look at all the Buffoons we've written in! The votes are rolling in! There's enough material to go around so that you don't have to resort to attacking commenters for their opinion.
But while we're talking about it, all like-minded Republicans regardless of religion, race or background are welcome in the Brooklyn GOP.
Calling commenters anti-semitic or a loser or whatever doesn't belong here. Blind hate gets you nowhere. Next thing you know, there's just another stupid flame war that, while amusing to non-participants, hurts what we're trying to do here. Besides, aren't there enough of those going on right now? Be better than that on here!
for all you who think that following the jewish religion is sexist for men not touching women. If their would be a Orthodox Jewish Woman who was running for assembly she would also most likely not touch any man's hand does that make her a sexist to?
as the person who made these comments I stand by them if you continue to attack the Jewish religion you will lose the only opportunity conservatives have to take control of Brooklyn. Orthodox Jews are the most conservative group in Brooklyn and your blatant antisemitism will prevent them from joining en masse. Just to show you fools how much your missing the highest racial-economic demographic to vote for Mccain in 2008 was Jews as a whole even though their is the super liberal Manhattan Jews.
Hey didn't Moshe Muratov proudly vote, support, and campaign for super liberal Democrat Bill Thomspon for Mayor in 2009?
I stand by comments that Moshe is a super, liberal, fake Republican, who's stabbed his own community in the back, by voting for anti-semitic, Roy Antoun to represent his even faker Republican club.
You do not represent the Jewish community, and neither does Yoseph Hayon, or certainly Jonathan Judge.
OK. Seriously. Enough.
I don't want to have to close the comments here, but I will if this nonsense continues.
I am with Gene on this one. Vote for the buffoon of the year here and then move on. There are plenty of other blogs to have silly debates like this on.
I cast my vote for ASIB.
Now that's how you moderate a website! Thanks, Gallo - that wannabe political site that I voted for as well better take note!
Congrats with carving a niche & voice, Gene and Russ. Visited my ol' Brooklyn Barrister weblink.. which led me to your new blog as well. GL across '11. (Eleven is a lucky number after all?)
Thanks for the kind words. Hope you can come on the show one of these nights.
Baffoon of the Week should have been the sanitation department of NYC for getting caught on their "slowdown".
