Mayor Ed Koch Endorses Bob Turner For Congress

Republican Congressional Candidate Bob Turner picks up key endorsement today.

Referring to Republican Scott Brown's victory in 2010 Mayor Koch said “I believe there’s no better opportunity to send the kind of message, and make this election the kind of referendum that existed in Massachusetts.”

We agree.

What Happened to The Show?

I knew there was something I forgot to do this week! A Radio Show!

Fear not, dear listeners. We took a week off to support Bob Turner for Congress and attend his volunteers meeting at the lovely Belle Harbor Yacht Club.

See folks, Me, Russell, "Crack Staff" and the rest of the show's motley crew - we're more than a great listen on Wednesday nights. We also walk the walk.

We don't blow off candidates in need of real support to do things like.... I don't know, just spitballin' here... throw fundraisers with pithy little names in the name of a candidate where the proceeds don't actually go directly to the candidate, where it's unaffiliated with the candidate, and was not actually set it up with the candidate's campaign. We don't show up to pressers and mill around in the hope of snagging some unwitting unaffiliated supporter. We're not out for ourselves.

No no no. That's not how we roll. Not Brooklyn GOP Radio.

Aside from running the best damn internet radio show this side of "The Bibi Report", we communicate with campaigns and, after a few minutes, they recognize that we're legitimately credible people who do the real work a campaign needs in the "real world" - the lit dropping, the volunteer wrangling, the phone banking, the grimy guts of what a campaign really is. The stuff that doesn't get a cheap pop on Facebook.

Most talk a good game, we play a better game. You need volunteers? We put out the call and we get you 20 volunteers. You need anything done? We're there. And the people in the know - they know. They know who to turn to when they need stuff done. That's us.

Oh well, end rant. We'll be back next week!

Or will we....

Gallo Tabbed To Head Up YR Volunteers For Turner Campaign!

Bob Turner’s expanded his campaign team today by appointing Brooklyn Young Republicans’ President Russell Gallo to the position of Young Volunteer Coordinator.

In addition to reviving the Brooklyn Young Republicans as it’s President, Gallo, 33, who is the sitting District Leader of the 47th Assembly District in Brooklyn and is an Iraq War veteran who is currently a Sergeant First Class in the NY Army National Guard is ready to take on the challenge of organizing Brooklyn Young Republicans.

Gallo is excited to take on this new role, which will be to manage all the young people who wish to support the Turner campaign. “Bob Turner recognizes that it will take the enthusiasm and energy of young people in Brooklyn and Queens to put him in a position to win this Special Election. I am proud and humbled to be picked to join his team.”

Those young people who want to volunteer for “Bob Turner For Congress” can contact Russell Gallo through the official website of the Brooklyn Young Republicans - http://www.brooklynyrs.com or can contact Russell Gallo directly at russell@brooklynyrs.com.

NY9: GOP, Conservatives Select Bob Turner To Run!

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a candidate! His name is Bob Turner.

Brooklyn Chairman Craig Eaton said: “Bob Turner is the best candidate to win this race due to his experience as a businessman and leader in the community. He will be a great representative in Congress to fight for the middle class and the struggling small business owners who are the backbone of our country.”

State Conservative Party Chair Mike Long said in an earlier statement: “Bob Turner has the business sense that has been missing in Congress, he understands how to turn a profit, he won’t be intimidated by those who are unwilling to cut the waste, pet projects or defund unnecessary programs. He is the right person at the right time to reflect the values of the 9th CD”

The Brooklyn GOP has been for Turner's latest try for Congress since the day Weiner resigned in disgrace, as Chairman Craig Eaton appeared on several different television programs with the retired businessman. Turner did well in Brooklyn against Weiner, garnering 48% of the vote.

We'll do a "Tale of the Tape" and more analysis in the coming weeks, including an interview with the future-Congressman Bob Turner himself!

NY-9: Dem Machine Picks Dem Machine Politician - Shocker.

Well, there you have it. The decision-makers for the Dems in NY-9 are putting Assemblyman David Weprin, the term-limited Councilman who fell on his face in his bid for Comptroller in 2010 and then ended up "trading" jobs with his brother Mark, who in turn ran for his brother's Council seat, to succeed disgraced Congressman Anthony Weiner.

A tip of the cap to our friend Azi Paybarah for this profile - we encourage you to read the whole thing:

His father was Speaker of the Assembly for many years and his brother — a former Assemblyman — now holds David’s seat in the Council. He’s wonky, prone to long explanations about complicated financial matters, and has not carved out a maverick persona for himself, benefiting, rather, from close ties to one of the city’s strongest political machines.
A machine politician from the Queens Dems? Whodathunkit?
