Congratulations Mr. Chairman

Tonight the Republicans of the Kings County County Committee met to elect the officers and adopt the by-laws that the County will operate under for the next year and a half.

Chairman Craig Eaton was overwhelmingly re-elected with about 1000 votes cast for him. His victory was well deserved and I am honored to have had the opportunity to nominate him this year for re-election.

Chairman Eaton oversaw the successful efforts in Brooklyn for State Senator Marty Golden, Congressman Michael Grimm (after the contentious primary against a former vice-chair of the Brooklyn GOP), Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis and, most recently, Congressman Bob Turner in a race which received national attention.

Turner's race would not have been possible without Chairman Eaton's work behind the scenes getting Bob to run a second time. Once Bob announced he would be running, Chairman Eaton put out the call and as the saying goes - they came. Hundreds of volunteers from Brooklyn worked tirelessly on the Turner Campaign. Brooklyn carried the district delivering Congressman Turner the win - winning 2-to-1.

Tonight's Slate:

County Chairman- Craig Eaton
First Vice-Chair of the Executive Committee- Bob Howe
Secretary- Diane Haslett-Rudiano
Treasurer- Thomas McCarthy

Our own Gene Berardelli has assumed the post of Chairman of the Law Committee.

Congratulations all and on to 2012!

VICTORY. Bob Turner, Brooklyn GOP Turn National Politics Upside Down!

We'll have in-depth analysis in the coming days, with numbers breakdown, winners and losers and a lot more. But more now, Congratulations to Congressman Bob Turner.

And congratulations to Chairman Craig Eaton, who was instrumental in getting Bob Turner to not only agree to run again, but to be our candidate, and the entire Brooklyn GOP.

And finally, to all of our amazing volunteers - for bringing home the biggest win by the county in over 30 years! This is for you:

PPP: The "Obama Anchor" Is Around "The 'Stache's!" Neck

David "The 'Stache!" Weprin is two days from becoming the biggest political failure in recent memory. And he can thank who he likes to call "The President of my party".

Public Policy Polling, described by Politico's David Catanese as a "Democratic firm" has driven home the latest nail in the coffin for Team "'Stache!" with the second poll in 3 days where Bob Turner leads them by 6 points - and the news is all about the "Obama Anchor". From Public Policy Polling:
If Turner wins on Tuesday it will be largely due to the incredible unpopularity of Barack Obama dragging his party down in the district. Obama won 55% there in 2008 but now has a staggeringly bad 31% approval rating, with 56% of voters disapproving of him. It's a given that Republicans don't like him but more shocking are his 16% approval rating with independents and the fact that he's below 50% even with Democrats at 46% approving and 38% disapproving.
I bet that makes Team "'Stache!" so happy that the Hopey-Changey ground game came in at the end, right?
An offspring of this Obama Anchor in NY-9 is the feeling that the US-Israel relationship has been hurt under the President's "leadership.
Turner is in fact winning the Jewish vote by a 56-39 margin, very unusual for a Republican candidate. This seems to be rooted in deep unhappiness with Obama on this issue- only 30% of voters overall approve of how he's handling Israel to 54% who disapprove and with Jewish voters his approval on Israel is 22% with 68 of voters disapproving. That has a lot to do with why Turner's in such a strong position.
But PPP also gives Turner credit where credit is due:
Beyond Obama's weakness, Turner has actually proven to be a pretty strong candidate. 45% of voters rate him favorably to 30% with a negative opinion. Independents give him good marks by a 56/17 spread and he has better than normal numbers across party lines with 29% of Democrats expressing a positive view of him to just 43% with an unfavorable one.
The Siena and PPP polls make it official - Team Turner has defeated Team "'Stache!" in the campaign. They controlled the narrative, putting forth ideas and positions to be discussed and scrutinized. Team "'Stache!" didn't do that. they've been responsive to Team Turner, using scare tactics and liberal "buzz words" without putting forth substance - that is, when they haven't been screwing things up to such an huge degree.

Team Turner has accomplished what it needed to do to put Bob Turner in a position to win - something that most Dems thought to be unthinkable. He's been the candidate of common sense, the candidate of independent thought, the candidate with the tools needed to fix things, the candidate who understands the district.

Two days from now, we'll see if he is the winning candidate.

Ten Years Later...

God Bless America.

Siena Poll: It's Turner By 6! 4 Days To Victory!

Somewhere outside of the district, "the 'Stache!" is in a state of shock. I'm losing by how much?

Me?

But I'm a Democrat.

"'Stache!": Worst. Campaign. Ever.

(Note how the panic button is locked - that's because every Dem has been pushing it so much today!)

It's Official. David "The 'Stache!" Weprin is the worst candidate in the history of candidates. Bar None. Martha Coakley, you're off the hook. Jane Corwin, move over! Dede Scozzafava, you're nothing but a memory.

First - and most recently - "The 'Stache!", who recently said in a NY1 Debate that "to use 9/11 imagery on the eve of our tenth anniversary of 9/11 was really despicable in my opinion" released a TV ad where a 3d plane graphic flies dangerously low over the downtown Manhattan skyline.

Totally agree, "'Stache!". I mean, what kind of candidate would use the image of a plane flying over lower Manhattan in an attack ad? Oops. You would. You can't make this stuff up. And thank goodness, because these blogs can't write themselves!

Congressman Grimm summed it up best:
As a 9/11 first responder, I can tell you that you can’t probably get more distasteful than an ad like that and someone who reviewed it along the way should have been able to figure it out.
The ad was quickly pulled after everyone who vetted it and approved it - including Team "'Stache!" I would think - realized about an hour later that they missed something. Imagine how that conversation would've went:
Team "Stache!" #1: Hey, did anyone at the DCCC ever think that showing a low-flying plane flying over Manhattan days before the 10th anniversary of 9/11 is a bad idea? I mean, it's not out there yet, is it?

Team "'Stache!" #2: Oh $#!t!
It's amazing how a $483K media buy can just foul all things up, isn't it? This is the latest in a whole series of missteps, mis-remembering and mis-everything else from Team "'Stache!" that led the Rothenberg Political Report to rate NY-9 a "pure toss-up" race before the botched ad was even released.

Rothenberg's shift in opinion comes on the same day that State and National Dems are pushing the panic button like it was going out of style. A half million in ad buys announce in one day? On the eve of election, that's the sweet smell of Democratic desperation coming from Team "'Stache!".

And the bad news apparently keeps on coming. A MAJOR top of the cap to Colin Campbell at the Brooklyn Politics who has this to add from his incessant, almost obsessive monitoring of Twitter:

WOW!

More on this and much more tomorrow as we continue our march towards shaving "the 'Stache!" and electing Bob Turner for Congress!

Meet David Wimp-rin!

Tonight was a GREAT time at "The Victory Center" for the last Brooklyn GOP Radio before the NY-9 Election, and we were joined by a special call-in guest. Meet "David Wimp-rin"!

Mr. Wimp-rin had a lot to say to our audience, though it usually came out after a lot of stammering and such. But we found out a lot, like he's a Democrat. And ummm... he's a Democrat. And also that he is indeed a Democrat.

But we probed the issue with Candidate Wimp-rin, like where did he get that hair? Or whether he would lose the 'stache is he lost. And if he drove on the Belt Parkway to visit the district from his home outside of it.

Would I vote for him? HELL NO! But he was a hoot. Give it a listen. The answers are hilarious. (And yes, Jacob Kornbluh was broadcasting from a wind tunnel apparently!)

"'Stache!" Clou-Less Then, Clou-Less Now!

I've always thought that there's something about David "the 'Stache!" Weprin that nagged at my brain - but I couldn't put my finger on it. The vacant expression, the constant foot-in-mouth disease. Then, after staring at so many pictures of "the 'Stache!" in putting together this blog every night, I realized something. And it struck me like a thunderbolt.

"The 'Stache!" is a celebrity look-a-like! He's a dead ringer for the great comedic actor Peter Sellers.

Don't believe me? Check this out!

What did I tell ya! The great "Inspector Clouseau" himself lives on in NY Politics! In more ways than one.

Now that I think about it, "the 'Stache!" and Clouseau have much in common. Given his penchant for gaffes as of late, he has been kind of Clouseau-esque on the campaign trail. From underestimating the national debt to his duplicity with the voters over his connection to Obama, it's no wonder why the polls show this race slipping through his machine-like fingers.

But he didn't come to be clueless overnight. As Finance Chair in the City Council, "the 'Stache!" was involved in a little mystery of his own. Wasn't he the finance chairman when the so-called "slush-fund" scandal occurred? Isn't the $16 million still missing? Hey, maybe "The Pink Panther" did it!

See those quotes? That's actually what "the 'Stache!" said when the scandal was unfolding before his very eyes! Talk about "Clou-less!" First, he shirks he responsibility and shows what a dolt he really is - I mean, he's only the FINANCE CHAIR... why should he be responsible for WHERE OUR MONEY GOES! Then, when the you-know-what hits the fan, all of a sudden, the buck stops everywhere and nowhere.

How any reasonable person could allow this man to clean their pool, let alone hold public office, is ridiculous. He hides from the truth, dodging and deflecting any hint of responsibility, then the man admits that he knows nothing!

Then again, as Clouseau says, "He who don't know nothing must know something, eh?" Or does he?

Bad News Day For "The 'Stache!" After Labor Day

"The 'Stache!" will not wake up to good news after the three-day weekend. There's bad news abound for the Obama / Democrat "Manchurian" candidate! Where to begin...

Count the NY Post in agreement with the NY Daily News and the Jewish Voice in endorsing Bob Turner for Congress!

No doubt, a Turner win -- the first Republican victory for the seat since 1923 -- would register in the White House.

Turner, a businessman who surely understands job creation better than career pols do, wants to trim spending and taxes to “allow our businesses to grow.” He abhors Obama’s pressure on Israel (“America’s only dependable democratic ally in the Middle Eeast”) to accept pre-’67 borders.

No wonder a McLaughlin poll last week had him and Weprin in a dead heat, with 42 percent of the vote each.

Ninth District voters who want to change the nation’s course can make a difference next week -- by voting for Bob Turner.

Can you already hear Team "Hopey-Changey" typing up the presser slamming the integrity of the NY Post? By the time you read this in the morning / afternoon / evening, they'll be an attack on the Post, for sure.

***
And the bad news keeps on coming... Now there's news that the Obama administration has been spying on Israel! From today's New York Times:

Now the reason for the extraordinary secrecy surrounding the Obama administration’s first prosecution for leaking information to the news media seems clear: Mr. Leibowitz, a contract Hebrew translator, passed on secret transcripts of conversations caught on F.B.I. wiretaps of the Israeli Embassy in Washington. Those overheard by the eavesdroppers included American supporters of Israel and at least one member of Congress, according to the blogger, Richard Silverstein.

From his F.B.I. work from January to August of 2009, Mr. Leibowitz also believed that Israeli diplomats’ efforts to influence Congress and shape American public opinion were excessive and improper... .
Could David "the 'Stache!" Weprin had gotten his idea to spy on opponent Bob Turner's campaign from Team "Hopey-Changey" who have recently been implicated in their own developing espionage imbroglio? I wonder how our Jewish friends will feel about this news.

***
I also want to give a shout-out to our good friend of the show and ardent Turner supporter Jacob Kornbluh. Listen to this week's special Bibi Report with Bob Turner on (and me too in the second hour!) It's probably one of the best shows I've ever heard - and that's saying a lot considering we run our own little show here! Listen below!

Of Puppets and 'Bots: "The 'Stache!"-Obama Connection

"The 'Stache!" wants to have his cake and eat it too! Just the latest example of the lies, misrepresentations and deceit that has become the hallmark of Team "'Stache!".

If we take "the 'Stache!" at his good word ( I can't believe I just typed that... can't. stop. laughing.), then there should be no question who's in charge here:
“I’ve never met President Obama. [Turner] is running against me.”
Is that so?

Then why is the Obama 2012 Grassroots calendar booked with 27 "'Stache!" events up until September 13th? I guess if "the 'Stache!" can't control his staff, someone else has to!

The duplicity is astounding. But it is ironic - the Queens "machine" has called in the "machines".

Enter the Obamabots - a horde of mindless foot soldiers who know nothing but their blind loyalty to... well, whatever their leaders tells them to believe at the time. In this case, the marching orders are clear - get "the 'Stache!" elected at all costs.

So why are the Dems sending in the clow... er, 'bots? Maybe it's because Team "'Stache!" has proven to be so grossly incompetent that the only way the Dems can think of to salvage this farce of a candidate is to bring in the "Hopey-Changey" ground game and take all those "smart" ideas out of their hands. Or maybe "the 'Stache!" is really THAT audacious to think that he can fool the 9th district into thinking that he will not be another "rubber stamp" Congressman while stepping and fetching for the Obama-nation's agenda like a good little Dem.

I think the latter - given "the 'Stache's!" record of "machine" loyalty, of flip-flopping jobs, of poor job performance/ability (slush fund, much?) his nepotism, I don't think it's a stretch to add disdain for voters to that list.

After all, he's been a puppet for the Queens Dem "machine" for so long, what does it matter who is pulling the strings? Who needs voters when Daddy gets you into politics and "the machine" paves the way for you?

Welcome to the race, Obamabots! I'm sure the people in NY9 will welcome you in their own way!

"'Stache!": What Do I Know?

(What do I know? I'm just the guy that wants to run things!)

We've all done it when faced with getting caught at something. We try to wiggle our way out of the situation. Some lie. Some beg. Some yell. "The 'Stache!" likes to play dumb.

Then again, he may not be playing. But we'll leave that for another time (Oh, a little foreshadowing? Wait and see!)

Take a look at this video from WNBC 4, and watch the little nervous smile from "the 'Stache!" when intrepid reporter Melissa Russo pushes for an answer:

So I guess "the 'Stache!" wants to shirk responsibility for his campaign's illegal actions. Out of sight, out of mind.

You know, there was once a Congressman who represented NY9 who also looked to blame others, plead ignorance and lie to the media about his actions. Now who was that guy again?

Remember what happened the last time we were supposed to take a Democrat at his word in this district? Turned out we were lied to. "Fool with once" and all that.

Anyways, back to "the 'Stache!", are we really supposed to believe that not 1, not 2, not 3, but at least FOUR young people caught spying at the Turner HQ is some freak coincidence? Or maybe we're supposed to believe that he's lost control of his staff? Is "the 'Stache!" running a three-ring circus over there?

Either he's lying or he's incompetent when it comes to managing his staff. You pick your own conclusion.

Dabbling in the Dark Arts Blows Up On Team "'Stache!"

(In the 'Stache's! wacky world, wizards do the campaignin', taxpayer dollars mysteriously fly off and land into "slush funds", and spies are among us! Oh, and the President will stick his head in every now and again.)
The Weprin campaign is becoming increasingly bizarre. We suggest they all head back to Hogwarts and regroup.
- Turner campaign spokesman Bill O'Reilly

Can things get any weirder in the NY-9 race?

In what could only be described as a desperate cry for help, Team "'Stache!" decided to employ a "wizard" to heckle a Turner fundraiser, in a pun-tastic play to promote their endorsement by the Old Grey Lady. Let's just say it wasn't touted as the most ingenious political stunt.

Basically, Team "'Stache!" was trying to out-do the Turner campaign at their own game and failed. Miserably. Whether it's sending SUVs to drive "The 'Stache!" to a debate he didn't wish to go to, or guys in duck suits or quotable one-liners at debates, the Turner camp has been out-working and out-classing Team "'Stache!".

In fact, City Hall News called the cheap stunt "a nervous reaction to the more genuinely inventive campaign Republican Bob Turner has been running for the Ninth Congressional District for weeks." when they called "the 'Stache!" one of the "Losers" of the week (and the biggest loser at that as voted on by almost 200 readers).

But this wonderful wizard of odd wasn't the only one attempt at some dirty slight of hand parlor tricks in the past day:
  • The DCCC actually tried to pass off that despite having the worst week in the history of political campaigning, "the 'Stache!" actually widened his "lead" over Turner! Are you kidding? We all know to take partisan polls with a grain of salt, but do they think we're all THAT stupid? At least the Turner poll is plausible given recent current events. Too bad the DCCC can't magically make this past week just "POOF!" go away.
(Clearly, this spy missed the "blend into your surroundings" lecture.)
Maybe the Labor Day holiday and a fresh week will mark a return to reality for Team "'Stache!"

"O" No! Scoreboard Tells The Story!

Well, well, well... would you looky here! We got ourselves a tied ballgame!

Even ardent "'Stache!" supporters have got to admit, this hasn't been the best of weeks for supporters of the Dem-Machine Obama-Automaton Candidate for NY-9. And after this week, you wouldn't blame them is they were scoreboard watching just a bit.

It started out with a political storm over the "'Stache!" using a storm to back out of a debate in Queens after he mis-remembered what the national debt is by about 10 TRILLION Dollars. Yeouch!

He ended the week by getting trounced in Manhattan Beach at a town-hall forum where "the 'Stache's!" Union-shills in the crowd were the only friendly faces he saw staring back at him. But then today, the New York Daily News - "New York's Hometown Paper" - endorsed Bob Turner over him and GOP Polling put the race at a dead heat, noting that "Bob Turner Owns The Momentum In This Race"

Boy, does he ever! The tone of the article in print and online are talking the Turner language. You see how national political sites like Roll Call and Slate.com and Real Clear Politics are talking about how this race is turning into a referendum on President Obama.

Speaking of "the President of my party" as "the 'Stache!" called him in Manhattan Beach, ( I kid you not... he actually said that. Apparently that title takes precedent over being President of the United States to Mr. Weprin - funny how many Republicans share that view!) President Obama's ground troops will be stumpin' for his machine-automaton candidate.

So much for keeping distance from Mr. Hope-and-Change.

If you thought that this race was about Obama's track record before, I can only imagine what voters in the district, many of whom aren't exactly fond of our President, will think when his connection to "the 'Stache!" is so direct. You have to think that some of those machine-dollars that everyone knew "the 'Stache!" would raise will line their coffers. (And for those who will tout the dollars, let us not forget that Congressman Michael Grimm won while being outspent $2,684,660 to $1,202,850 in 2010. Money ain't a thing when you're right on message.)

So do I call him "'StacheBama!" now? How about "O-'Stache!-Ma"? Actually, I kind of like the latter.... hmm....

If I was "the 'Stache!", I'd be saying "do me a favor and stop doing me favors!" I can only assume that Bob Turner will be more than happy to let everyone know about "the 'Stache's!" latest knight-in-shining-armor riding to his "aid."

We'll see how this latest development effects the 'ol scoreboard on Election Day.

Deafening Silence For "The 'Stache!" in Brooklyn

Hear that? That's the sound of the support David "the 'Stache!" Weprin is getting from his colleagues in Brooklyn.

I'll keep it (relatively) short, but as I was watching the Turner-Weprin debate in Manhattan Beach (yes, he showed up!), I saw support from Sen. Marty Golden, who was sitting in the crowd in a town hall meeting supporting Bob Turner - outside of his district. I remembered Congressman Michael Grimm throwing a fundraiser for Bob Turner at a venue in Mill Basin - outside of his district. I remembered Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis attending a Turner volunteer movement in Sheepshead Bay - outside of her district.

Brooklyn Republican electeds are "all in" for Bob Turner. And they're putting out the effort.

But here we were in the heart of Southern Brooklyn, home of a (if not THE) strong Dem machine, and there was... no one? No Dem electeds in attendance? No Councilman or Assemblyman (I'll give Carl Kruger a pass, he has enough on his plate!) glad-handing, introducing "the 'Stache!" around to prime Dem voters? Really?

Is he just not well liked? Are the Brooklyn Dems ticked that they're losing influence to Queens? Whatever the reason, in my opinion, The Dems are writing off Brooklyn as Bob Turner Country.

***

Due to the debate, there's no radio show this week - talk to you next week on the internet airwaves!

Parting Shot: Those Turner supporters are so amazingly creative! First NYPartyGuy, now this! (h/t The Daily Politics) They QUACK me up!
