Buffoon of the Year 2011 - Finals! WEINER vs. OWS! WHO YA GOT?!?

So it's all come down to this. One more week. 7 days is all that separate us from deciding Brooklyn GOP Radio's Buffoon of the Year!

So what happened in the previous rounds? A lot! We've recorded over 240 votes and had had over 600 visitors these two weeks along. It's all added up to the BIGGEST month in Brooklyn GOP Radio history! Bigger than last year's Buffoon of the Year vote. Bigger than the audience that visited during the NY-9 Special Election. All of us here are overwhelmed by the response - we have the most loyal listeners in the world! Thank you!

So enough mushy stuff from me, let's recap the semis - and preview the finals!

No 5. Occupy Wall St. (59%) Takes Out No. 1 Barack Obama (41%): There was an eleventh hour push from a bunch of people to push Occupy Wall St. over the top on this one. In fact, if you listened to this week's show, you heard us talking about how Obama won! Boy, were we wrong! Frankly, I was rooting for OWS to be the bigger buffoon - it's a "movement" without a message that disrupted our City for months - for no discernible reason at all!. As far as the President goes, hopefully this won't be the last time we'll be reporting about Obama's loss of an election.

No. 3 Anthony Weiner (56%) Beats No. 2 William Boyland (44%): Our fans were pitted with a tough choice - is the bigger buffoon the guy who tweeted his manhood for all the nation to see, or the guy who was arrested for looking for bribery to pay the defense lawyer who got him out of his bribery case? For most of the week, the answer was resounding: Weiner's buffoonery dominated Boyland all week. A late night push almost swept Boyland to further infamy, but in the end, Weiner won by a... well, you know.... What! I meant by a nose!

So there you go - the finals are set. You've picked them. You know their stories. You've seen their buffoonery. Now pick us a Buffoon of the Year!

Buffoon of the Year 2011 - The Semis! WHO YA GOT?

Wow! Brooklyn GOP Radio fans cast 185 votes in the Quarterfinals of our 2011 installment of Buffoon of the Year! In ONE WEEK! Thank you to everyone who voted - you made some interesting selections. Let's recap and unveil the Semi-Finals!

No. 1 Barack Obama (52%) Edges Out No. 8 Eric Holder (48%): The Attorney General is rightly taking the heat from Congress for the death of a border patrol officer in the unfolding "Fast & Furious" scandal and cover-up. But ultimately, the buck stops with Barack. Fast & Furious, Solyndra, unemployment, the economy, trashing allies on hot mics, poorly timed golf outings, voids in leadership... the list goes on and on and on and on and...

No. 5 OWS (57%) Upsets No. 4 Carl Kruger (43%): This was a bit of shocker to me and others, especially in light of the recent resignation / plea / sobbing in open Court by the Disgraced Democrat who formerly represented the 27th Senate District. Kruger's slow agonizing demise was an open wound all year, but perhaps the nationwide disruption and inanity of Occupy Wall St. hit home with listeners outside of Brooklyn. The Occupiers are crude, rude and socially unacceptable cretins who want.... well, we don't know exactly. Brooklyn GOP Radio listeners have spoken!

No. 3 Anthony Weiner (73%) Trounces No. 6 David Weprin (27%): This was a no-brainer. While "the 'Stache!" snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by running the worst campaign in the history of campaigns, Weiner became a national punchline. Just put "anthony weiner jokes" into Google and enjoy the 1.2 MILLION results! However, their combined buffoonery did result in the election of Congressman Bob Turner - the first Republican in the Congress from the area since the 1920s, so I ain't so mad at 'cha, guys.

No. 2 William Boyland (52%) Squeaks By No. 7 John Liu (48%): Not shocked by the results, but that was close! Especially considering Boyland was put on trial for bribery, got off, and then got busted soliciting bribes from undercover FBI agents to pay his legal fees resulting from his bribery trial! But, our listeners are shrewd politicos, and they know that John Liu, our supposed fiscal watchdog in NYC, is on the cusp of a budding campaign finance scandal of his own, which may cut into his mayoral aspirations. But in the end, Boyland moves on.

So there you have it, let's set up the semis!

No. 1 Barack Obama vs. No. 5 OWS

No. 2 William Boyland vs. No. 3 Anthony Weiner

Chairman Eaton to Gov. Cuomo - Schedule Special Election For Kruger's Seat NOW!

Here's an official statement from Brooklyn GOP Chairman, Craig Eaton:

With disgraced Democratic State Senator Carl Kruger’s resignation Tuesday as part his agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office to plead guilty to federal charges of bribery and conspiracy charges, Brooklyn GOP Chairman Craig Eaton called on Governor Andrew Cuomo to immediately recognize this resignation and immediately schedule a special election to fill the 27th Senate District seat for April 24, 2012.

“New York State, and the Board of Elections, is hemorrhaging money. Now that Brooklyn voters have yet another vacant seat to fill thanks to yet another corrupt Democrat, Governor Cuomo must schedule a Special Election as soon as possible - and in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible”, said Eaton. “The people of the 27th Senate district have been without adequate representation for far too long. A Special Election coinciding with the scheduled primary in April is the quickest and most cost effective way to do this.”

Some may argue that scheduling any Special Election with the April primary would result in a higher Republican turnout – a point Eaton dismisses based on recent history. “Governor Cuomo scheduled the 9th Congressional special election for the same day as Democratic primaries in Brooklyn”, said Eaton. “Congressman Bob Turner didn’t complain about his transparent attempt to draw more Democrats to the polls. He got out the vote and he won."

“If Governor Cuomo doesn’t do the right thing and schedule the 27th Senate Special Election for April 24th, then all should question his commitment to cutting government waste and call him out for putting politics ahead of the people of Brooklyn.”

Kruger Falls. Hard. Enter: David Storobin

So who's ready to campaign in the snow?

Looks like there may be another Special Election in southern Brooklyn (if Gov. Cuomo calls for it - more on that soon, I think!) Obvious when the time comes, I'm sure Russell will be emailing all of us and bribing up with free cocoa and such!

But until then, let's get you caught up on some recent news:

Right now, the buzz in Republican circles is all about David Storobin, who is thought to be the front-runner to be the GOP nominee for the 27th Senate seat vacated by disgraced Democratic Senator Carl Kruger.

And the buzz is getting louder. According to Politicker, Storobin had scheduled a gathering with Sen. Dean Skelos and Marty Golden to meet with some prominent Russian and Orthodox Jewish leaders. And from I've seen and heard, Storobin wowed everyone. the event in Manhattan Beach was attended by close to 100 people, including prominent rabbis from the district. I even heard Sen. Skelos say how Storobin reminded him of himself before his first run - and we all know how that career is going!

Here's a round-up of some recent news and blogs surrounding the seat that mentions Storobin, including a good profile by David Freelander of PolitickerNY:

(And just for fun, here's a recent "hit piece" from that liberal sludge-machine Room Eight trying to get out in front of "KrugerGate" by throwing him under a bus and dubbing Storobin a Russian Rev. Sharpton. Can't call him an anti-Semite like they dubbed me once upon a time, so they call him a plain ol' racist - you seriously can't make this stuff up, folks. http://www.r8ny.com/blog/gatemouth/jurassic_park.html )

Keep checking back for updates - this is gonna get good!

Boyland Reaction

The Democrats in New York have pretty much enjoyed absolute power and as the old saying goes...

Boyland, Kruger, Weiner, Liu - all Democrats - conducted business as if they were untouchable. The list of New York City Democrats that have been or will be indicted for various crimes is staggering. The audacity and contempt for their constituents is disturbing.

William Boyland is, thus far, the most audacious. He is accused of soliciting a bribe intended to pay the legal fees incurred while fighting federal charges of accepting bribes! You can’t make this stuff up.

Although Boyland escaped justice at his last trial, these current charges, supported by documented discussions and illicit transactions, seem pretty solid.

Brooklyn Republicans are energized like I have never seen before. We currently have four Republican elected officials representing Kings County with the recent win by newly elected congressman, Bob Turner. The Brooklyn Young Republicans were re-launched this year and recognized by the New York State YRs. Kings County Republican Chairman Craig Eaton opened a party headquarters and an internet radio show (Brooklyn GOP Radio) broadcasts from it live every Wednesday night.

The Brooklyn GOP as well as the Brooklyn Young Republicans are eagerly awaiting the redistricting process to be completed. With the momentum that we have, there is almost no foreseeable scenario that several districts will not be in play for Republican candidates in the next general election - let alone any special elections that may arise.

With President Obama on the top of the ticket in 2012 and Democrats all over New York City finding themselves as defendants in corruption cases, the GOP will see election results not seen in years.

Gallo Interviewed By Brooklyn Ink!

There'll be no living with him from now on...

Looks like Gallo was interviewed about "Buffoon of the Week" William Boyland's bribery scam intended to pay for the lawyer that got him off of his previous bribery scam.

Take a look HERE
