The Brooklyn Young Republicans have had a huge impact on the local political landscape working with the Brooklyn GOP and our elected officials to build and strengthen the Republican party in Brooklyn - and this past weekend at the NY State Young Republican Convention in Albany, they were honored as Young Republican Club of the Year!

Special Election, Indeed! Brooklyn Awaits Results of SD27 Tally
![]() |
| Please remain on the line, and someone from the Board of Elections will be with you shortly with the results of the 27th Senate Special Election. Eventually. |
This has been one of, if not THE, busiest political week I've ever personally experienced!
On Monday, we were all still recovering from Bob Turner's 72-hour successful juggernaut of a campaign to qualify for the U.S. Senate Republican Primary, all while the frenzy of the SD27 Special Election's final act looming over southern Brooklyn.
On Tuesday, the Brooklyn GOP dropped another bomb - we got out the vote for David Storobin, who ran his campaign like his life depended on it, and sent the Southern Brooklyn Democrats reeling with his improbable-to-some-but-not-to-us showing,.
The past two days thereafter have been a crash-course in the complexities of Election Law, managing the re-canvassing of votes, learning about the intracacies of "memory sticks", locating ballot bins and paper ballots, and, of course, navigating Board of Election regulations (and witness their ineptitude first-hand). We even canceled Brooklyn GOP Radio, as the thought of rating the night after Election Day gave way to duties as Law Chairman.
Frankly, things change hour-by-hour, and much of it I can't talk about right now. I can tell you that as we stand right now, Storobin continues to lead Lew Fidler by about the same margin he led on Election night, with the absentees to be opened next Wednesday. Between now and then, candidates will be inspecting the absentee ballots for irregularities and to ensure their validity to ensure that every legal vote counts.
For the candidates - five anxious days. For the lawyers and volunteers - five more 18-hour work days!
But for the Brooklyn GOP, it's just another day of shock and awe! No matter the outcome, the Brooklyn GOP has made their point, made their mark and made the headlines - AGAIN.
So for now folks, stay tuned for the exciting conclusion! Keep an eye on our Twitter feeds (over there in the right column) for the latest news on the SD27 re-canvass. Maybe by next week's radio show, we'll be able to announce the exact moment when Citizen Storobin becomes Senator Storobin!

120 Votes! David Storobin Ahead of Lew Fidler After SD27 Election Tally
![]() |
| David Storobin on the phone with Sen. Dean Skelos after he declared victory in the SD27 Special Election! |
Well now. Aren't thing interesting NOW! The Unofficial Tally in the 27th Senate Special Election, with lots of paperwork and legal rankling to come is:
STOROBIN - 10,756 (50.28%)
FIDLER - 10,636 (49.72%)
We'll have more on this tomorrow after I get more than 90 minutes of sleep tonight. But for now, let's toast SENATOR David Storobin and the Brooklyn GOP!

Turner's Victory at NY GOP Convention is BIG For Brooklyn!
![]() |
| Congressman Bob Turner's 72-hour run resulted in qualifying for the ballot for US Senate. And it all started with Brooklyn GOP Chairman Craig Eaton - again. |
This has got to be some kind of record!
Congressman Bob Turner, who announced his candidacy for US Senate on Tuesday after Brooklyn GOP Chairman Craig Eaton suggested that the NY GOP get him into the race to unseat Kirsten Gilligan... I mean, Gillibrand, earned ballot access on the very first round of voting, garnering over 25% of the weighted county vote.

It's Official - Bob Turner For U.S. Senate!
Tuesday night, the Brooklyn GOP leadership met with Rye Town Supervisor Joe Carvin, former Supreme Court clerk Wendy Long and Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos - all of whom are seeking the GOP nomination to run against Senator Kirsten Gilligan.... I mean, Gillibrand (h/t to Brodigan for that nickname - I'm so running with it! After all, she's Schumer's "little buddy" in the Senate!) I have to admit, each candidate lived up to their billing.
All three are well qualified and all have the potential to be well-funded challengers who can topple the "Most Liberal Senator" in America.
But they're not Bob Turner.

B'klyn GOP Chair Wants To Draft Bob Turner For Senate!
![]() |
| That's what Brooklyn GOP Chair Craig Eaton thinks - and he's urging other GOP County Chairs to follow his lead! |
Brooklyn GOP Chair Craig Eaton is in the news yet again! You've probably seen it already on Capital Tonight, Albany Times-Union, Lo-Hud's Albany Watch, NY Daily News, or the NY Post late this afternoon. In a leaked communication to Republican County Chairs all over the state, the chairman made the case for Congressman Bob Turner as the party designee for U.S. Senate! Yes, you read that right!

Source: Upstate "Deal" For Ousted County Exec? WHAT ABOUT BOB?!?
As I write this, party power-brokers are meeting to horse trade with each other on the final version of the Congressional lines. According to my source, who has always been reliable when it comes to Congressional news, the latest controversy surrounds possible Congressional seats that would split Erie County between two different Congressional districts - one strongly Republican, one Democratic - at the expense of three incumbent Republican members of Congress.

Liberal Hypocrisy: "Rush" To Condemnation Maher-ed By Silence
(h/t to Hannity, where I first saw this video)
(Author's Note - Tonight's radio show inspired me - it's time to start calling out what Russell calls "the hypocrisy of the Left" when we see it. We gotta call it out by name, face, and act if we hope to end it. Tonight's as good of a night to start as any! I hope this is the first in a running series of articles with national and local examples of political hypocrisy coming from Democrats. I'm sure Russ has thought of 50 articles already! Now to our first case study.)
Brooklyn GOP Radio Liberal Hypocrisy Lesson #1: When a Republican does something wrong, call him/her out on it, repeatedly. Seemingly without end. Beat it down for days and days, and then beat it some more! Even if s/he apologizes, keep the onslaught on! But if a fellow Democrat does the exact same thing or worse, clam up and tow the party line.

What's A "Eunich" And Other Graubard Buffoonery
![]() |
| Before I begin, a word to Mr. Howard Graubard, who apparently is so lazy is his writing that he can't even use basic spell check that has existed for as long as I've been alive! It's e-u-n-u-c-h-s, sir. |
Apparently I'm not just fat - I'm a fat, insincere liar! At least that's what Howard Graubard says.
While I'm sure I'll be up many a night worried about what this sad sorry little man thinks of me, Mr. Graubard should know that he, predictably, proved me right.

Pots & Kettles - And Dumb@$$ Liberal Bloggers

| If this is the face of mental wellness, then call me deranged! |
Howard Graubard, who insists on soiling the moniker of a great blues musician by posting hateful liberal tripe, went off on yet another tirade on me. Can someone say obsessed?

(Inter)Networking: Meet "Change It Back 2012"
![]() |
| Check out ChangeItBack2012.com |
Sgt. Quintana is a Purple Heart Veteran of the Iraq War whom Russ and I met briefly at CPAC while we were all gawking at the mess that was Occupy DC. and is the man behind "Change It Back 2012", a new online web campaign seeking to unite one million Americans who will pledge to vote out President Obama.
The email contained a blog posting he wrote looking at the state of political discourse in the context of the untimely passing of Andrew Breitbart, which you can check out here.
So I thought that this would be as good of an introduction as anything for our audience to this call to action. I'm sure we'll have Sgt. Quintana on the show soon to learn more about his website and more of his thoughts.

Andrew Breitbart: In Memoriam
I only met Andrew Breitbart once - this past February at CPAC. I introduced myself and told him I was down from Brooklyn, NY and wanted to thank him for his investigative story that "exposed" Anthony Weiner, and to let him know that the grassroots team in Brooklyn finished the job he started by helping to get Bob Turner elected to Congress. Andrew then quipped to the group he was speaking with that, hearing what I said, he was going to go to Congressman Turner's office so the Congressman could thank him in person.
The conservative moment has lost a true warrior and a trailblazer of new media. In a way, he led the way for Brooklyn GOP Radio as well. The path he created will be traveled by many in the future.
It's fitting that on BigGovernment.com, they feature a new conclusion Breitbart wrote for one of his books:
I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and—famously—I enjoy making enemies.
Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands—who knows?—of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night.
He will be truly missed.
