Heard At CPAC: API's Karen Moreau Gives Us A Real Education On NY Hydrofracking

Listen to our interview with API's Karen Moreau - a NY attorney who has become the leading advocate for hydro fracking in the state.  (Photo by Diana Sepulveda)
I have to admit - for all the news in the past year about hydraulic fracturing - or "hydrofracking" - I did not have the first clue about the process involved.

So when Russ and I got to meet Karen Moreau of the American Petroleum Institute (API) at CPAC, I was glad to get a real education about the processes and the benefits of 'fracking.

Karen is the leading educated voice on the issue.  She is a graduate of Siena College, received her Juris Doctorate from the Albany Law School of Union University and has 25 years experience in municipal, land use and zoning law, real property tax assessment, real estate development, and the general practice of law. Her new job  catapulted her from local NY lawyer who made good into the national debate on shale gas drilling and she is widely considered to be the voice of advocates for hydraulic fracturing in New York's deep Marcellus reserves.

I don't know about you, but after listening to that, I learned a lot!

API represents more than 490 oil and natural gas companies, leaders of a technology-driven industry that supplies most of America's energy, supports 9.2 million U.S. jobs and 7.7 percent of the U.S. economy, delivers more than $86 million a day in revenue to our government, and, since 2000, has invested over $2 trillion in U.S. capital projects to advance all forms of energy, including alternatives.

This is sure to be a significant issue in this year's gubernatorial elections - so keep this in mind during the year and especially when it comes time to vote!
