About

Brooklyn GOP Radio is an internet based radio show broadcasting live on BlogTalkRadio.  It is sponsored by the Kings County Republican Committee in Brooklyn, NY.  The show highlights local, citywide, statewide and national politics - with a little Brooklyn swagger thrown in.  Guests from the world of politics - candidates, elected officials, journalists, authors, personalities, pundits and prognosticators - stop by to discuss current events.  The show and blog are recognized as a legitimate source - even shows like The O'Reilly Factor and CBS This Morning have cited Brooklyn GOP Radio for original source material!

But it's not all business on air - in fact, there's rarely a dull moment.  Sarcasm is a second language on Brooklyn GOP Radio, as evidenced by the wildly successful "Buffoon of the Week", where the hosts will nominate a public figure and hold him/her out for ridicule for some dubious distinction ripped from the headlines, culminating at the end of the year with "Buffoon of the Year" honors bestowed upon the truly deserving!

ABOUT THE HOSTS

Gene Berardelli
GENE BERARDELLI:  Gene was born and raised in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Manhattan College summa cum laude in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government and International Studies, where he earned the College’s Ryan Medal for Government, membership into the college's select Pen & Sword Society, and induction into multiple honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Juris Doctorate from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2002 – at age 23.

In 2007, Gene was first elected to the Kings County Republican Executive Committee as Vice Chair of the Law Committee, where he worked with Republican attorneys to help grow the Party in Brooklyn. As a volunteer on several different campaigns – and as a candidate for public office  himself – Gene has been part of a leadership team that has overseen a “renaissance” of the Republican Party in Brooklyn, which has included Special Election wins for seats in the U.S. Congress and the NY State Senate in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

In 2011, Gene was elected Law Chairman for the Brooklyn GOP, and within 90 days of his election, he found himself successfully trying the high-profile 27th Senate re-count which turned an 87-vote deficit into a 13-vote victory for Sen. David Storobin – the closest election in NY State Senate history (if not NY State history!). For his work with the Republican Party, Gene was honored as Brooklyn Young Republican of the Year in 2012 and was appointed to Congressman Bob Turner’s Service Academy Selection Committee in 2011 and 2012.  This year, he was re-elected as Law Chairman for another two year term, and was invited to become a member of the City Bar’s Election Law Committee.

Gene is the founder of Brooklyn GOP Radio - he handles the bookings and all the technical nuts and bolts that make the show happen while trying to be the ringleader of what sometimes turns into a three-ring circus run amok!  He mostly moderates the debate, but can go off on a rant with the best of 'em!

Russell Gallo
RUSSELL GALLO:  Russell Gallo has both academic and real-world political experience.  He earned a B.A. in Government from John Jay College, and an M.A. in Political Science from Brooklyn College.  Russell ran in 2005 for City Council and in 2012 for State Assembly.  From 2005 to 2013 he was the elected Male District Leader for the 47th Assembly District, and is currently the Secretary of the Brooklyn GOP.

He has also served as the Brooklyn Field Coordinator for John Catsimatidis for Mayor in 2013, Campaign Manager for Bob Capano's 2009 City Council campaign as well as the 2010 campaigns for Ken Rice for City Council and Phyllis Carbo for Assembly.  He was also the Brooklyn GOP liaison for Dan Donovan's campaign for Attorney General and Harry Wilson's campaign for State Comptroller. In 2006, Russell also served as a community liaison for Senator Marty Golden.

Russell is also no stranger to service.  Serving this nation for over 18 years, Russell has served in the Army (where he was an MP in Iraq in 2004-2005) and currently holds the rank of First Sergeant in the National Guard.

Quite simply, Russell is the on-air engine that makes Brooklyn GOP Radio go.  His uncensored, no-holds-barred no-apologies style makes him a lightning rod that makes listeners think and react.  But he's not all bravado - he backs it up with spot-on political analysis.

CONTRIBUTORS

Though there never seems to be enough microphones to go 'round, Brooklyn GOP Radio sometimes features some colorful, sometimes off-kilter, co-hosts that add some spice to the proceedings, including friends like 50th AD Leader Bill Davidson, Matthew Fairley, Esq., Jacob "Yak Attack" Bard, "The Honorable" William P. O'Neill, III (pictured right!) , and our friends Vito & Vito.

And of course, we are proud to be a part of #TeamNinja and Wayne Dupree's We Are America Radio - WAAR!

DIANA SEPULVEDA:  Through thick and thin, Diana Sepulveda has been the truest of friend of the show.  Formerly the Chair of the NY State Young Republicans, Diana is currently serving in her second term as Brooklyn Young Republicans President, and was recently elected as Fianance  Vice Chair of the Brooklyn GOP. And, she's a force on the campaign trail - an expert in field operations, organizing campaign volunteers and she is a whiz with Microsoft Excel (you laugh, but that has saved our butts on campaigns annually!) Diana is a regular contributor to the show on-air and online and brings a much-needed female prospective to our boys-club of a show - she keeps us grounded, but is as passionate about conservative politics as anyone.

"Crack-E-Faces"

"CRACK STAFF":  There's virtually nothing he doesn't know about politics.  He has years of political statistics seemingly at his fingertips.  But "Crack Staff" is shrouded in mystery.  Who is he?  What is his background?  Why does he know so much.  All we do know is he is a fountain of knowledge, he has a soft spot for marginal candidates and he's on our side... sometimes.  Every now and then, he'll switch sides, just to keep us on our toes.

OUR BLOGGIN' GANG:  We've recently added a whole roster of talent bloggers who contribute to the show on air and online her eon the blog!

The one who doesn't have time to look into a camera is Mona Salama.  A young Republican by way of Astoria, Queens, Mona has a B.A. in history education from City College of New York, an M.P.A candidate at John Jay and an aspiring blogger.  A self-described "girl who loves politics", Mona is a budding political operative well-versed in field operations, having worked as a campaign staffer for different campaigns - including Joe Lhota's mayoral bid - for almost 3 years. She is an active member of the New York Young Republican Club in which she is a member of its Blog Committee.

Then there's our friend Bryan Antico.  A native of Smithtown, NY (that's on Long Island to the geographically challenged), Bryan is president of the Smithtown YRs, and a town Republican Committeeman who had worked on campaigns in Nassau, Queens and Suffolk counties. He has an Associates Degree from Suffolk College, and was recently recognized by Newsday for his community service work at a local hospital. Oh, and did we mention that he's only 20?!? Bryan is awaiting deployment with the US Navy, where he will become a hospital corpsman.

Then there is our good longtime friend Amanda Kohut, who has been an amazing friend on the show and has agreed to write for us!  Amanda is currently a graduate student at The George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management.  She was awarded a GW Fellowship in Spring 2013.   She has campaigned for Republicans in eleven states.  Most notably, she was the Director of Research for Bob Turner’s historic 2011 victory, when he won New York’s 9th Congressional District seat.  She was invited to join his Congressional staff, and was a Legislative Assistant in his Washington D.C. office.

And last, but certainly not least is our very good friend Aiyana Joseph, who has been a regular caller into our show and was an integral part of Team Brooklyn GOP Radio at CPAC 2014.  Living all the way up in Glenville, NY, Aiyana is a young Republican who is a graphic design professional and is active in the Schenectady County GOP, serving as The Glenville GOP Treasurer.  In her town, the GOP swept all races in 2013 (just like Brooklyn, right?!?) Her writing philosophy of "If you're angry about something, blog about it!" fits in perfectly with the show.
